Glow: Break Up Recovery

Privacy Policy

Last updated 22 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Kyran Brockett, a sole trader based in Australia ("Glow", "we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you use the mobile application Glow: Break Up Recovery (the "App") and related services (the "Service").

We take your privacy seriously, particularly because Glow is used at an emotionally sensitive time. This policy is written to comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and — because the App is available worldwide — it also includes sections for users in the European Union / United Kingdom (GDPR) and California (CCPA/CPRA).

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Summary

In plain language:

The rest of this policy sets out the detail.

2. Who We Are (Data Controller)

The person responsible for your personal information (the "data controller" under GDPR) is:

Kyran Brockett (sole trader) — operator of Glow: Break Up Recovery Email: glowbreakupapp@gmail.com

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information you give us

Account and authentication information. When you sign up, we use Sign in with Apple or email sign-in with a one-time code. Depending on the method, we receive your email address and a unique account identifier. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide a private relay email address instead of your real one. We do not use or store passwords.

Onboarding and profile information. During onboarding you provide information about yourself and your situation. This typically includes your name (or nickname), age or age range, and basic details about your breakup — for example, who ended the relationship and how long ago it happened. Some of this may reveal information about your emotional or relationship circumstances, which we treat as sensitive (see Section 4).

Community content. If you use the group chat or community forum, the messages and posts you submit are stored on our backend and are visible to other users. Do not include information in these spaces that you want to keep private.

AI feature inputs and choice. If you explicitly allow AI sharing, Lila sends your messages and selected context through our systems to OpenAI for replies, summaries and memories (see Section 6). We also store your AI-sharing choice, disclosure version and update time with your account.

Communications. If you contact us (for example, by email), we keep your messages and contact details so we can respond.

3.2 Information stored only on your device

Your journals, notes, voice recordings, and video recordings are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers. We do not have access to this content and cannot retrieve or restore it. It is not covered by our backend systems, and if you delete the App or lose your device it may be permanently lost.

3.3 Subscription information

The App offers paid subscriptions and plans, which are purchased and processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We may receive from Apple confirmation of your subscription or entitlement status (for example, whether your subscription is active) so we can unlock premium features. Apple's handling of your payment information is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

3.4 Information collected automatically

When you use the App, our backend and infrastructure providers may automatically process limited technical information needed to operate and secure the Service, such as your device and app identifiers, app version, general device/operating-system information, log data, and approximate location inferred from your IP address (for example, for security and to route requests). We use this to run, protect, and troubleshoot the Service.

We do not collect your contacts, photos library, precise GPS location, or health data from your device unless a specific feature asks for your permission and you grant it.

4. Sensitive Information

Because Glow relates to breakups and wellbeing, some of the information you provide may be sensitive information (under the Privacy Act) or a special category of data (under GDPR), as it can reveal details about your emotional state or relationships.

We collect this information only where you choose to provide it, and we rely on your consent (and, where relevant, the fact that you have manifestly made it public — for example, by posting it in the forum) as our basis for handling it. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting the relevant content or your account, or by contacting us. We ask that you do not provide more sensitive information than you are comfortable sharing, and that you never share other people's sensitive information without their consent.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your personal information for third-party advertising.

6. AI Features and How Your Data Is Processed

Lila uses OpenAI's API for conversations, activity and no-contact support, conversation summaries and remembered context. With your separate, explicit permission, Glow sends selected information from your device through our authenticated Supabase Edge Function to OpenAI. Local storage does not prevent that transmission when you choose to use Lila.

What is sent when relevant and available: your messages and recent conversation history (including Lila's replies); conversation summaries and remembered information derived from chats; your first name, age information, selected relationship and breakup details, contact circumstances, reported difficulties or safety concerns, emotional coping baseline and desired outcome from onboarding; and context for the activity you choose, including no-contact progress or a recent contact event. These inputs may contain sensitive personal, emotional or relationship information, including information about others that you type. Your full journal library, mood check-in history and Community conversations are not automatically sent; anything you type or paste into Lila is included.

Your choice: The App presents a disclosure naming OpenAI, the information sent and its purposes, with an Allow sharing with OpenAI choice. Accepting the general Terms or this policy does not grant AI permission. Missing, declined or outdated permission blocks AI requests, including summaries and memory extraction. Your account stores your choice, disclosure version and update time. You may decline and still use other features and read saved local chats. You can withdraw in Profile → Lila → AI Data Sharing. Withdrawal stops new AI requests and cancels active AI networking on that device, but cannot recall information already sent or erase provider records automatically. If offline, sharing is disabled on that device immediately; a connection is needed to synchronize the withdrawal across your account and other devices.

Provider processing and retention: We do not store Lila chat conversations on our servers. We require processors to protect personal information to the same or an equal standard to this policy through processing restrictions, access controls and appropriate technical safeguards. We have not opted in to OpenAI training or model improvement using API inputs or outputs. Glow sets store: false for OpenAI requests, which disables optional application storage; this is not Zero Data Retention. Under standard API controls, abuse-monitoring logs may contain prompts and responses and are generally retained for up to 30 days, with exceptions where law requires longer retention or it is reasonably necessary to protect services or others from harm. Temporary processing or caching may also occur. OpenAI may process information outside your country (see Section 9). See OpenAI's API data controls for current details. Deleting your Glow account or withdrawing permission does not automatically erase information already sent to OpenAI.

Please avoid entering information you do not want OpenAI to process, especially another person's sensitive information.

The AI features are for self-help and general support only and are not medical, psychological, or crisis services, as explained in our Terms of Service.

7. Legal Bases for Processing (EU / UK Users)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

8. When We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these circumstances:

We require our service providers to protect your information and to use it only to provide services to us.

9. International Data Transfers

We are based in Australia, and our service providers (including Supabase, Apple, and our AI provider) may store or process your information in other countries, including the United States and elsewhere. These countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your country.

Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA, the UK, or Australia, we take steps to ensure it is protected — for example, by relying on providers that offer appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred internationally as described here.

10. Data Retention

We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy:

11. How We Protect Your Information

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your device and sign-in method secure. If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where required by law.

12. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal information. We honour these rights regardless of where you are, to the extent the law allows.

12.1 Rights available to everyone

You can:

To exercise any of these, email us at glowbreakupapp@gmail.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Note that some content (such as on-device journals) is not held by us and can only be managed by you on your device.

12.2 Additional rights for EU / UK users (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the rights to restrict or object to processing, to data portability (to receive certain data in a portable format), and to not be subject to solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects (we do not make such decisions about you). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); in the EU, your national data-protection authority.

12.3 Additional rights for California users (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it, to access and delete it, to correct inaccurate information, and to be free from discrimination for exercising your rights. We do not "sell" or "share" your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those permitted. You may exercise your rights by contacting us at glowbreakupapp@gmail.com, and you may use an authorised agent where the law allows.

12.4 Australian users

If you are in Australia and are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, you can contact us first at glowbreakupapp@gmail.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

13. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a person under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at glowbreakupapp@gmail.com and we will delete it.

14. Community Content Is Public

Please remember that anything you post in the group chat or community forum can be seen and stored by other users and is not private. Do not share information there that you would not want to be public, and do not share other people's personal information without their consent. We are not responsible for how other users use content you choose to share.

15. Third-Party Links and Services

The App may reference or link to third-party resources (for example, crisis support lines). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if we change our features, providers, or legal obligations. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as through the App or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
